I believe I've read to curve a pad it is to be put in hot water.  Is it to be kept in a curved state while it cools or what?

I've heated the pad, formed it into shape and then put it on the buttstock where it was to go, while it was hot. It worked.

Best of all he loved the fall
The leaves yellow on the cottonwoods
Leaves floating on the trout streams
And above the hills
The high blue windless skies
Now he will be a part of them forever
