OK, my searching sucked and couldn't find if there's been a poll like this so I thought I'd try my first poll and grab some popcorn. Sorry if it's redundant. So, for pheasant, grouse of all kinds East and West, woodcock, quail and dove what is the gun you shoot BEST. Not what you prefer esthetically, what you SHOOT BEST. I don't care about gauge, just format. Just want to get an idea of what people use as their PRIMARY GUN- the one you kill the most birds with. ONE VOTE.
Clay shooters, stay away, I don't care about you here. Waterfowl and turkey hunters, no go here too.

I think the SxS is a better bird gun because I like how it carries for long hikes. The SxS seems to come to the shoulder quicker for me too. The only caveat I have with the SxS is that I cannot shoot it well if the dimensions are not spot on. O/Us and autos seem to have a wider range of measurements that fit me.

Early in the polling and the SxS's are running away with it. I kind'a like this. Seems the OU guys are quicker to tell folks to lose the SxS, from my limited experience. Nice Elsies!!

The Good Lord gave me two eyes side by side, not one in the middle of my forehead. That proves side by side shotguns are the proper ones for bird hunting.

This was my first real year of bird hunting and my first year that I really shot a shotgun a great deal. I have personally found that I put more birds on my belt with a s x s than I did with my o/u or the auto that I had. I am going with s xs guns from here on out.

Put all your worries behind you and buy a Benelli ultralight. The greatest upland gun ever made.

Tried the sxs thing for a little bit. Too many survivors left in the woods. Went back to my o/u, and the world got normal again.

Something often overlooked about sxs: even if you miss, you feel better about it.

QUOTE (ScottGrush @ Feb. 10 2012,7:15)
QUOTE Put all your worries behind you and buy a Benelli ultralight. The greatest upland gun ever made. How can a gun made predominantly of plastic be the greatest of all time, epic fail Grush! Where is the plastic on a BUL? The stock is wood, the rib is kevlar, the rest is metal. The only plastic is the spacer between the stock and action that allows for custom fit of comb height and cast.
Nice try chicken eater.
