It occurs to me that it would have been easier if your friend had said exactly what he would ideally want. To that end I would just like to state that if anyone wishes to give me a barrel I would like a barrel matching this description ( more or less)

Prefer no rib
LW magnum

I've never even seen a plain LW MAGNUM barrel!

I'm sure they were made but I've looked at a lot of barrels.

For my current needs I would rather have the 3" with a rib than 2 3/4" plain.

To clarify what I was trying to say earlier, if a person finds a gun which is the one and they can shoot well, care should be taken before you mess with that formula. Some people would love a new barrel, and others might not. That is why I said maybe the money would be better. As for myself, I get sentimental about the guns that I really like, and I would not want a new barrel on such a gun, but that is just me.
