Is Remington the only manufacturer of new .22 mags? Any recommendations for used stuff?
I know Magnum Research and Volquartsen make expensive custom stuff but I'm wondering what there are for options in the under $600 market.
I'd like accurate and reliable and from what I heard the Remington 597 doesn't fit the bill.

Ruger used to make a 10-22 magnum. Look on gunbroker for used ones, but the price is high like $650+. I had a Remington 597 22lr when they first came out. Lets just say I got rid of it quick.

My Father in law has a Marlin 22mag. Its not new, but like the few Marlins I've shot, it was dead reliable and more accurate than I expected (~1" @ 75yrds). It was probably a 922 (from a quick internet search).

I heard the Ruger 10/22 mags didnt work very well and that's why they don't make them anymore.
I've had a few other recommendations for the Marlin 922. Now to find one....

The Ruger mags worked fine the reason they do not make them any more is they just did not sell that many and if you look at Rugers business plan if they do not sell they do not keep making them. The difference between the 10/22 and 10/22Mag is the Mag has a machined receiver which costs more to make then the cast 10/22 receiver
Volquartsen make one but they are not cheap as in $1400 they also make a 17HMR that is $1200.
CZ makes the 512 which is a BRNO clone
H&K made the 300
The Remington had bad issues with older guns but I presume they fixed the problems as they are still offering them.
Marlin no longer offers a 22 Mag
Magnum Research makes a 10/22Mag clone that is worth checking out
