All I have read (which was on a 2004 post here) is that these Uggies were a special run ordered by a fellow by the name of Dave Parker who owned a gun shop in Kansas.
Uggies are good guns. The only caveat is that the spanish single trigger has always been a bit suspect. The non selective trigger seems to be more reliable than the selective.
Thats about it.

The Quail Special is different than the 645E (present day Grade III) in that it has screws in the reciever sides rather than pins. I believe the last Uggie boxlocks that used screws was in the 50s and before and the engraving is unique on that gun.
Howsomever, the only one I've seen was advertised as mod/full;........in a quail gun? ??? It must be for a guy like me; slow on the draw.

The original Bill Hanus Birdgun, also a Parker-Hale marked Uggie, had a non-selective ST if I recall correctly. And open chokes that were pretty appropriate for quail.

Only thing I know is that I have a Uggie Falcon from the 70s I think. It's a 12 and has been a great SxS, gets used as a backup for upland and waterfowl. It's a DT extractor, 26" bbls. choked IC & Mod. works for most situations for me.

I think the gun is the same as a 30 and is a boxlock. I also don't know jack about a 30. If the chokes are full and mod can they be opened safely? Price is $700. I have two great French sixteens but I have been listening to you guys talk about a Spanish so I thought it might be a good entry point.(For my daughter or son)

An Uggie 30 is a boxlock extractor gun, plain case colored receiver. Most Spanish guns, any good gunsmith can open the chokes for you. Bores aren't usually chromed. (They often are chromed on Italian guns.) If you already own a couple French 16's, the Parker-Hale 16 will probably be heavier. I just sold an Uggie 30 16 with 28" barrels, and it weighed about 6 3/4. Some Manufrance Robusts can weigh close to that, but most French 16's are lighter. But on the other side of the scorecard, you should be able to shoot the standard American 1 oz 16ga loads in the Parker-Hale and feel a whole lot less recoil than you do in a lightweight Frenchie.

A couple weeks ago I called on on a Uggie 16 Quail Special. Salesman said yes it's available. Gave him credit card info and shipping details. He went to call it in and came back and said we have a problem. Someone is at the counter buying the gun. Was disappointed but it all worked out as I later found a pristine N. Guyot 16 ga. As new. All case colors, really nice. Glad I missed the Uggie. Seems to be a 1937 gun. Beautiful.

My uggie mod 30 was opened to cyl by imp cyl by briley with no problems I had the forcing cones lengthened while it was there as well.
Have had no problems with the gun in the 12 years I've owned it. Like it very much. $700 is a very good price
